SMA resin is a kind of random structure copolymer which is obtained by copolymerization of styrene and maleic anhydride under certain conditions. The content and molecular weight of maleic anhydride in the copolymer are adjustable. The copolymerization can be expressed as follows:

I. Heat resistance
SMA resin has higher thermal deformation temperature, which is 20-30 ℃ higher than PS, as and ABS. With the increase of MA content, TG, HDT and Vicat temperatures of SMA resin increased. HDT of SMA and glass fiber blends can reach 125-140 ℃.
II. Compatibility
SMA resin has nonpolar aromatic and polar anhydrides in its molecular structure, so it has good compatibility with a variety of polar or nonpolar materials, such as PP, PE, PS, as, ABS, PC / ABS, PC and PA, as well as glass fiber, so as to make a plastic alloy with excellent performance and wide application.
Machinability
SMA resin has a large MFI value, low melt viscosity, stable flow during injection molding and extrusion molding, and is easy to fill the mold cavity. It can be used for extrusion blow molding, injection and thermoforming with general equipment, and can be made into sheet. The extrusion temperature of SMA resin is 230-265 ℃. The cooling curing speed is fast, the product size is stable, and the heat shrinkage is only 0.4-0.6%.

SMA resin has excellent chemical resistance, can withstand a variety of chemical reagents and a variety of animal, plant, mineral oil erosion.

Ⅱ. Sma-1000-p as compatibilizer of engineering plastics alloy
The maleic anhydride group in SMA resin can react with the end group (amino group, carboxyl group or hydroxyl group) in nylon and polycarbonate to form pa-g-sma or pc-g-sma graft copolymer. At the same time, SMA resin has good compatibility with ABS engineering resin or impact modifier. Therefore, SMA resin can be used as compatibilizer of PA / ABS or PC / ABS alloy. Recommended addition: 2-8%
3.Processing Guide
This product can be directly mixed with the above resin without making masterbatch.
When mixing, the temperature shall be controlled below 70 ℃, and high-speed mixer shall be used to mix evenly.
It is suggested to use twin-screw extruder with high shear force.
