Because compatibilizer has an important influence on the mixing and stability of polymer alloy system, the reasonable selection and use of compatibilizer is very important for the realization of polymer alloy technology. According to the interaction characteristics between the matrix polymers of compatibilizers, compatibilizers can be divided into two types, namely, non reactive compatibilizers and reactive compatibilizers.
1、 Nonreactive compatibilizer
Non reactive compatibilizer is a general compatibilizer at present. It is the most common method in polymer alloy technology to achieve compatibilization by adding non reactive compatibilizer in incompatible polymer system. Non reactive compatibilizers are generally copolymers, which can be block copolymers, graft copolymers or random copolymers.
2、 Reactive compatibilizer
Reactive compatibilizer is a kind of polymer composed of main chain PC and active group (such as hydroxyl group and epoxy group, most of which are random). Because its nonpolar polymer main body can be compatible with the nonpolar polymer in the blend, and the polar group can react or bond with the active group of the polar polymer in the blend, it can play a good role in compatibility.
Generally, it is of macromolecular type, and its active functional group can be at the end of the molecule or on the side chain of the molecule. Its macromolecular main chain can be the same as or different from at least one polymer matrix in the blend system, but in different cases, its macromolecular main chain should have good compatibility with at least one polymer matrix in the blend system.
